METHODOLOGY
All IT software development projects are and will be managed based on the PRINCE (Project in Controlled Environment) methodology, which is a structured method for effective project management. It is a de facto standard used extensively on global basis, including by the UK Government, and is also widely recognized and used in the private sectors internationally.
Key features of PRINCE are:
- Its focus on business justification
- A defined organization structure for the project management team
- Its product based planning approach
- Its emphasis on dividing the project into manageable and controllable stages
- Its flexibility to be applied at a level appropriate to the project
In the PRINCE Process Model, the process-based approach provides an easily tailored and scalable method for the management of each project. Each process is defined with its key inputs and outputs together with the specific objectives to be achieved and activities to be carried out. Stages are well defined and managed throughout the project and can be illustrated in the following diagram.
